Missions

First United Methodist has long been recognized for it's commitment to missions.  In addition to our conference obligations, we are faithful in second mile giving.  Each year we observe "Faith Promise Sunday".  On that day, we are given the opportunity to make our pledge to missions for the year. This is strictly between God and the giver, and no cards are signed.

We support most local causes, such as Allied Churches, Loaves and fishes, Caring Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and many others.  We contribute to salary support for three missionaries each year.  We have contributed to work as near as Red Bird Mission in Kentucky and as far away as Armenia, Russia, South America, Africa, and most recently, to the victims of the tsunami.

We thank God that through our faithful giving, our Christian presence is being felt throughout His world. 

At our District Lay Rally on Feb. 20th, F.U.M.C. was recognized as a Rainbow Covenant Church (meaning that we supported 5 lanes of giving: World, National, Missionary Salary Support, UMCOR, and conference.)  We also were recognized as one of the top 5 out of 64 Churches, in mission giving.
